5 Must-Go Glamping Spots for Families
I can’t believe it either, but we are not doing any glamping during our big summer road trip. Clearly, I must change this, especially after reading up on so many fabulous glamping resorts, like Conestoga Ranch, which opens up on July 1. Take a look at five must-go spots for sleeping under the stars in canvas safari tents, conestoga wagons, even Airstream trailers.
Under Canvas
Under Canvas has been around for a couple of years, though I only recently discovered their luxury glamping near Glacier, Arches and Yellowstone National Parks. Look for safari tents, even deluxe tents with private en-suite bathrooms, as well as teepee tents, which are perfect for kids. Once settled in, take a guided kayaking trip, try fly fishing or go hiking in the nearby national parks.
Conestoga Ranch
Located mid-way between Salt Lake City and Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, Conestoga Ranch opens up on July 1. And, get this, you can sleep in a conestoga wagon. Family wagons sleep up to eight people, so these work even for large families, like mine. The resort also features glamping tents, as well as camp sites where you can pitch your own tent if you choose. So awesome.
The Resort at Paws Up
I keep reading good things about The Resort at Paws Up in Montana, including this fantastic review by Kim-Marie of Luxury Travel Mom, which makes me want to get on a plane and go now. Look to Moonlight Camp at the resort, which has six safari tents, each with its own en-suite bathroom. Even better, there’s a camping butler that gets you whatever you need. How can you not love that?
Santa Barbara Autocamp
If you like Airstream trailers, a stay at the Santa Barbara Autocamp in California is a must-do. While they have just five Airstream trailers, the 1959 Airstream Overlander is set up to sleep a family of four with two twin beds and one queen bed. Even better, there’s a full kitchen with coffee and tea service. As a bonus, there’s croquet for the kids. Restaurants, parks and shops are within walking distance.
The Ranch at Rock Creek
At The Ranch at Rock Creek in Wyoming, book a stay in one of four Family Canvas Cabins situated on the banks of Rock Creek. The cabins have a rustic feel, but luxury bedding and private baths make this a “glamorous camping” experience for sure. Kids will love the Little Grizzlies Kids Club, an outdoor program that teaches kids about Montana and life on a ranch.
