Woodloch Pines Resort: Family Fun in the Poconos

Indoor Splash Park at Woodloch Pines Resort

During Hurricane Sandy, while my family was without power for several days, I came across a brochure for Woodloch Pines Resort in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. I’d heard so many positive comments about family-friendly all-inclusive resorts in the Poconos and this seemed like the perfect time to check one out! We really enjoyed Woodloch, which had so many activities of all ages and personalities:

For Young Children
A huge indoor splash park with waterfalls, padded slides and wading pools is perfect for little ones. Woodloch also has a separate one-foot wading pool, which is calmer for babies. There’s an arts and crafts room in the main lodge filled with supplies, suggestions, and very often, staff-led activities. The indoor forest playground has tons of slides, rope ladders and mazes. There’s also a separate, calmer space for the two and under crowd. At almost every meal, a familiar character comes to entertain children. My children especially loved visits from Buzz Lightyear and Cookie Monster!

For Teenagers
Teenagers will love the huge indoor recreation building. The first floor houses an arcade. Upstairs there’s a full-size basketball court and an indoor forest playground with tunnels, rope ladders and mazes. Across the street is an outdoor complex full of activities for every adventure and thrill seeker, like bumper cars, go carts, climbing walls, bumper boats, a shooting range, batting cages and a zip line! They also have nightly movies, karaoke contests and other “teen only” events.

For the Whole Family
Look out for nightly entertainment in the nightclub with shows, trivia contests, magic shows and karaoke sing-a-longs. Each afternoon, there is a different team building activity in the lodge room. We had a blast competing in “Cupcake Wars.” They also have cooking classes, mystery games, and family sports such as bocce, bowling, volleyball and basketball. Venture outdoors to check out numerous walking and hiking trails all over the complex and trained guides who provide tours and lead hikes.

It was wonderfully relaxing to arrive at every meal and be greeted by an entire wait staff, all with smiles on their faces. Each family is assigned a table and a server who gets to know you and your culinary preferences. The food was delicious, and each of the four courses offered many varieties for people with allergies and food sensitivities, including my picky toddler. My husband loved that he could sample it all and still have seconds!

Due to the time of year, we weren’t able to take advantage of the lake front and all the swimming and boating in opportunities Woodloch provides, but that just means we’ll have to come back next summer!

The pool looks like a lot of fun for the kiddies. Nothing wears out the kids like water activities.

  2. This looks like a great vacation spot for my family. Definitely adding this one to the list!
