What Do You Collect When You Travel?

Christmas ornaments. Magnets. Postcards. These are the things I like to collect when I travel for work or for vacation. I’ve got a Mardi Gras ornament from when I had to travel to New Orleans for business last summer and another of the El Yunque Rain Forest from our recent vacation to Puerto Rico.

I’d guess that most people collect something from their travels. So I started to hunt around and here are a few of the most popular items travelers like to collect to remember their trips:

* Bracelet Charms

* Coasters

* Coffee Mugs

* Hotel Keys

* Hotel Stationery

* Match Books

* Playing Cards

* Restaurant Menus

* Rocks & Stones

* Shot Glasses

* Snow Globes

* Teaspoons

What do you like to collect when you travel? Let me know in the comments below.

  1. We collect pressed pennies! I was just about to do a post on them – L.O.V.E. Them! They’re small and cheap!

  2. We’re room key people, although I can’t really say why since we just accumulate them in a giant bag. Every once in a while it’s nice to go back and look at some of them though.
    Who’s stealing all the restaurant menus?

  3. Travelling Mommy says:

    We collect Christmas ornaments. It’s a fun way to remember our trip when we decorate our tree together. Everyone loves to recount their favorite memory from the trip and its like we are there all over again!

  4. Christmas ornaments. That way we take a walk down memory lane every time we put a tree up and it doesn’t clutter my house during the year. The kids have fun picking out the “one” we’ll take home.

  5. As a 15 year old who still buys like a 6 year old,i buy stuffed animals! i also buy the little mini- glass trinkets,they usually are about 5 dollars each and they dont break easy, even though they are glass.

  6. Carolin Ireson says:

    I love Cruising and I collect Coffee Mugs and magnets from the ships we travel on plus charms from the Ports of Call.

  7. When I first started traveling, I’d buy different things, basically whatever caught my eye in a shop. But once I was home, I found that I didn’t really use or display the items. After a friend showed me the ornaments she’d collected all over the world on her Christmas tree I was hooked and I’ve been collecting Christmas ornaments ever since. I even started designing them because I can’t think of a better way to commemorate a beautiful trip. They just make the experience of the vacation last longer.
