This giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to the winner, Tiffany Mercer ([email protected]).

It’s hard to believe that my kids will be back in school in less than a week. The countdown is on and we’ve been busy buying new school clothes, getting haircuts and organizing school supplies. We’ve also been thinking about what to do as one last hurrah, so I was excited when I heard from Discover and Six Flags. One final trip to an amusement park would be a great way to cap off the summer, and Six Flags America is only an hour from my house.

All the rides, water attractions and shows at amusement parks are great on their own, but it’s also super-easy to find deep discounts on admission in August and September. Do a Google search for “Six Flags” and “promo code” for current discounts, and if you can, buy your tickets online at least three days in advance for extra savings. Here’s a great post too called 10 Ways to Get a Six Flags Ticket Discount.

If you have a Discover card, use your card to pay to receive an extra 5% discount on park admission, as well as on in-park purchases, including food and souvenirs. You’ll also receive expedited entrance into Six Flags during the first two hours of operation each day. As an added incentive, through September you’ll receive a 5% Cashback Bonus on all gas, theme park and movies you pay for with your Discover card (up to $1,500 in purchases).

So, who’s up for going to Six Flags to mark the end of summer? I’ve got a family four-pack of Six Flags tickets to give away to one lucky winner. Just leave me a comment by Friday, August 24 at 8 p.m. ET and let me know your favorite thing to do at amusement parks. I can’t wait to hear from you.

In the meantime, go ahead and check out Discover on Facebook and Twitter for more money-saving tips and opportunities. Good luck!

My favorite thing to do at an amusement park is seeing my kids face as they ride their rides. My youngest ones have never gone to one as we don’t live to close – but we would make the trip to California if we won the tickets! We used to take my oldest ones but with the change in economy we just haven’t been able to go since the twins were born. Thanks for the contest!!

  2. Olivia Parker says:

My favorite thing to do at an amusement park is to go on the roller coaster with my kids. My son loves the roller coasters and he has the dream to go to every amusement park and try out every roller coaster. I would love to take him to chicago six flags to start working on that dream.

  3. The rides, of course! I’m a thrill junkie and I haven’t been on an “adult” ride since before having kids. Now that our little ones are finally reaching the ages (and height requirements) to be able to enjoy the trip I’m excited to get back out there! Our toddler already knows the number one roller coaster rule – hands up! (:

  4. My favorite part of amusement parks are the plethora of kiddie rides for my daughter to choose from and the adrenaline rush i get from riding the big roller coasters.

I would love to get the tickets for 6 flags in New Jersey.

  5. My favorite part of visiting the amusement park is seeing my children ride the bigger rides now they they are getting older (10 & 12) and hearing them chatter about how they liked this ride or that ride. I know that lifelong memories are being made. It’s my youngest daughter who is most fearless when it comes to riding the roller coasters.

My kids are just starting to get into theme parks and as a single mom, I would love to nab this deal! Thanks for all the tips. We love the 3D simulator rides because usually, we can all ride them together! Our favorite was at Universal Studio’s Transformers. That ride is amazing even my 5 year old loved it!

My favorite thing to do at an amusement park is to go on the roller coaster with my daughter. My daughter loves the roller coasters and has never had an opportunity to go to SIx Flags. She is fearless when it comes to rides and her face just lights up with joy. We would visit the Six Flags in Georgia becuase it is the closest to us. My daughter has never been and we have wanted to take her. Thank you for your amazing webmails. I love them!! And thank you for a chance to win!!

  11. I love to ride the roller coasters and the swings – there is nothing like a thrilling ride and the breeze blowing through my hair!

  12. My family and I love amusements parks, we haven’t been able to visit any this summer but really want to go. Our favorite thing to do is plan the night before what rides we are going on, this way our excitrment builds up,once we are in the park we start off with the scariest roller coaster. Thanks for the wonderful opportunity

My favorite thing to do is the rollercoasters. Can’t wait till my kids are old enough to enjoy too. Have not taken them to Six Flags so this would be an awesome trip. Family time at its Finest!!!

  17. Tiffany Mercer says:

Hey everyone! My favorite part of theme/amusement parks? PEOPLE WATCHING! The one great thing about lines :o) I can be constantly amused bu individuals from all walks of life and my kids learn about the unique differences among people which in turn fosters curiosity and tolerance. They also pick up on how NOT to behave or who is behaving extra well while waiting. Last but not least they learn that patience certainly pays off for a fun experience in the end! Enjoy the final weeks of summer y’all.

  18. Honestly…the entire experience is pretty awesome, but I would have to say that the best part is the joy that it brings to the kids (and myself hehe ). The smiles and laughter that we share during a visit to an amusement park is one that fond memories are built on.

My favorite thing to do at amusement parks are riding all of the rides and taking pictures with all the different characters. Amusement parks are so great for the whole family! Old and young! Great giveaway! Thanks so much!

  23. Kathy Reveille says:

Well, as a single mom of two precious “miracles”, I would have to say MY favorite thing to do at an amusement park is to take pictures and videos to capture the moment. My boys, however, love the rides and games. My oldest son, 14, is obsessed with amusement parks, and coasters. He has autism, and this is one of the traits, an obsession with a certain subject–his is roller coasters. He has been begging me for what seems like forever to take him to Six Flags–he can name every coaster and all the statistics to go along with each one. My younger son, 11, loves to ride the smaller rides and play the arcade games, even though he is too big for most of the kiddie rides–he also has autism, and has a fear of a lot of motion. So while fearless big brother braves the giant coasters, little brother tries and tries for that next big prize. We go, we have lots of laughter, we make memories to last a lifetime ~ and I savor capturing every minute of it! <3

  24. My favorite thing to do at amusement parks is spend time with my family. I know its not cool at my age to want to hang out with mom and dad, but every summer we go to six flags, since I was 3. Last year my mom and dad took me to see Never shout Never, my first concert. It had to be the best day of the summer for me. They truly are my best friends. We havent gone this year because my mom got sick over the winter and missed alot of work so it wasnt practical to spend the 300.00 on a park. I dont know a better way to celebrate her getting better then winning this for me and my family

  25. I like to go on the thrill rides.

  26. I love watching how excited my kids get! The smiles and my daughter’s giggles are priceless.

  27. Savesabit says:

I enjoy the rides but I also have a blast people watching=)
