When you travel, do you use Foursquare to check in at restaurants, attractions or hotels? Do you tweet out photos on Twitter or share pics of your kids building sand castles on Facebook? If you do, you’re not alone. TripAdvisor released findings of a survey today that revealed that three in four share travel experiences on social networks.

Here’s a sampling of the findings:

91% of those surveyed post photos of their vacations

34% use check-ins while traveling, most often checking in at their hotels (27%), landmarks or attractions (25%) and restaurants (19%)

52% share trip details both while traveling and once they return home

36% like to share vacation experiences online in order to update friends and family on their whereabouts

You know, I used to be one of those people who would share pictures or check in on Facebook or Foursquare from vacations. Well, I still do check in on Foursquare sometimes, but no longer on Facebook, and here’s why. If I’m hunched over my iPhone to post a picture to Facebook, then I’m not really spending time with my family or enjoying where I am, am I?

I also have found myself going on Facebook less and less because of people who post all of their fabulous vacation photos. I’m not jealous. Okay, maybe I’m a little jealous. But I got tired after awhile of friends, neighborhood moms, colleagues, whomever, posting pics of all their amazing travels. I especially don’t like it when friends share pictures of their feet while on vacation! Ick.

I don’t know, what do you think? Do you like to share photos and details of your vacations while you’re on vacation? Let me know where you stand in the comments section below.
