Colorado is such a beautiful state, and one that I wish I had more time to explore. I’m flying to Colorado next month for a few days for a travel bloggers conference, and am hoping to discover more of what Denver and Keystone have to offer families.

With this in mind, GoColorado.com recently offered a few can’t-miss suggestions for families visiting Colorado this summer, including theme parks, historical museums and state parks. Take a look at what’s in store for you if you choose to pay a visit to Colorado:

Elitch Gardens Theme Park (Denver): Opening day is May 5 and this theme park has rides and shows for the entire family. They’ve got two new kids rides this year, and an entire water park to check out this summer.

Molly Brown House Museum (Denver): Take a guided tour of the 1880’s home of the Unsinkable Molly Brown, one of the survivors of the Titanic tragedy. Take a Titanic-theme tour (advance reservation required) or get involved in special workshops, teas and film screenings.

Denver Botanic Gardens: Open daily, visit a variety of gardens, including the Mordecai Children’s Garden. There are a variety of family activities offered at the Denver Botanic Gardens, including family fun nights, campouts and even a bonsai workshop for kids and parents.

Colorado State Parks: Spend time camping, hiking, biking and fishing in the 42 state parks in Colorado. As a bonus, look out for Colorado Day in August to get free entrance to all parks, as well as a variety of state-run museums.

Do you have any favorite attractions or parks to visit in Colorado? I’d love to hear your suggestions. I’m hoping to see as much as I can in just a few days.

  1. The gardens in Denver are beautiful. They are definitely worth the admission fee. Don’t forget Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes Park. Crazy beautiful and you can see lots of animals driving through it.
