5 Must-Visit Sites to Plan Spring Break on a Budget

kids on the beachYesterday, I shared with you tips on How to Decide Where Not to Go for Spring Break, and now today I’ve got some of the best sites to bookmark for hot deals and vacation savings once you’ve decided where you actually do want to go for Spring Break with your family. Take a look at a few of my favorites:

1. Kayak.com: Earlier this month, Kayak.com introduced a new price forecasting feature designed to give you better insights into whether to buy your airline tickets now or wait a few days. Since it’s never easy to tell whether you’re really getting a good deal, this is a great tool to have in your back pocket. You can also set up price alerts so Kayak.com can tell you when the price is right to jump in and book your ticket.

2. HomeAway: I put up a post earlier this week on my experience finding a vacation rental through HomeAway and I really can’t say enough good things about this service. We’ve saved at least 50% on accommodations by opting for a vacation home over a hotel room. Plus, kitchens, family rooms and game rooms give you more space and let you eat in to save even more money.

3. Cruise Critic: It’s Wave Season through March, so now is the best time to hop on cruise deals and Cruise Critic is a great catch-all site with tips, reviews and, of course, deals. The site makes it easy to sort deals by departure city, cruise line, even travel month. Look for special sections listing last-minute deals, cheapest cruises and Caribbean deals.

4. BookIt.com: If you want to find deals with your hotel, meals and activities all packaged up, then BookIt.com is a good first stop on the web. Click “Vacation Packages” on the top-level navigation bar to find lots of great all-inclusive deals to warm weather destinations. Just click, buy and go.

5. TravelZoo: I feel like TravelZoo has been around forever. I think it’s one of the very first travel sites I ever visited back in the late-90’s. Anyway, it’s still around, and it’s still a great go-to site for travel deals. Get on their weekly email list of the Top-20 deals and you’ll find a fabulous listing of the best packages, airfares and cruises for the week. Weekly “news flash” emails also share super-low price deals.
