Twitter Tuesday: Who to Follow Before You Book Your Next Family Cruise

I took my first cruise more than five years ago (gosh, I can’t believe it’s been so long). It was an Alaskan cruise from Vancouver to Anchorage with my husband, our two little ones and my in-laws. It was a lot of fun though surely a different experience than what we would find aboard any of the Caribbean cruises (there was a lot of Bingo on the Alaska-bound ship if that tells you anything).

I now have four children (ages 8, 6, 4 and 2) and the idea of going on a family cruise is starting to cross my mind again, particularly with the new Disney Fantasy cruise getting ready to set sail in the Caribbean in March. So I’ve been actively following a number of cruisers on Twitter to keep up with the latest news on cruises and cruise trends, and thought I would pass along a few of my favorite cruise experts.

@CruiseLineFans: You’ll find lots of reviews, advice and photos. Plus, check out their community forums at CruiseLineFans.com to get the inside scoop from other cruisers.

@CruiseCritic: If you like lots of cruise news, this is a great feed to follow with as many as ten updates a day. You’ll find trends, cruise deals and the state of the industry.

@CruiseLog: As the official Twitter feed of USA Today cruise blogger, Gene Sloan, you’ll find updates on cruise ships, deals, photos and itineraries.

@DisneyCruise: If a Disney Cruise is on your mind this year, follow @DisneyCruise for the latest scoop on their cruise itineraries and ships, including the Disney Fantasy, which is set to sail in March.

@OrlandoChris: Follow along on Twitter or catch Chris Owen on his frequently-updated blog, Chris Cruises, for all the latest scoop on cruise vacations.

@TheCruisePaper: A relatively new face on Twitter, at least in terms of cruise news, but you’ll find lots of good updates and the latest on all the major cruise lines.

@Cruise Buzz: I love following @Cruise Buzz because she literally gives you cruise news inside and out, from cruise calendars to photos and videos she’s taken aboard ships. She recently posted a whole bunch of links to Twitter accounts for cruise ships.

@CruiseGuy: Apparently, this guy, Stewart Chiron, is “America’s Most Quoted Cruise Expert.” He has a website here at The Cruise Guy too. He tweets a lot about the latest ships, and is most excited about the new #CarnivalBreeze and #DisneyFantasy cruise ships due to set sail later this year.

Have you been on a cruise? What have been some of your favorite cruises and cruise lines? I’d love to get your feedback as I begin to plan for my next cruise adventure.

  1. We just got back from our first cruise with Royal Caribbean. I have never seen anything as imprressive as these boats – in and out. and the amount of food, entertainment. it was a once in a life time event for sure!!!!!!

    great place for families.

As the former Disney Cruise Mom, I’m a little biased. Yet, I still believe that no one beats Disney cruises when it comes to a tailor-made vacation for every member of the family. The Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy are spectacular ships, but the original ones (Disney Magic and Disney Wonder) are sailing to some fantastic ports of call next year from convenient and cost-efficient home ports.
