Back in April, my older girls and I were able to get a behind-the-scenes look at the National Aquarium in Baltimore as we took part in a video shoot with my friend, Colleen, for the first season of her PBS series, Family Travel with Colleen Kelly.
We had a lot of fun and I was excited to learn that the new season has begun with 13 episodes that showcase the best family-friendly activities that a variety of cities across the country have to offer. Take a look at what you can expect to see this season:
New Orleans isn’t just for Mardi Gras, that’s for sure. Last year, I put up a post on 5 Family-Friendly Activities to do in New Orleans, and I’m looking forward to this episode to see what else can be done here with kids.
Of course, there’s the Alamo in San Antonio, which is not to be missed, but stay for other attractions, like caverns, wildlife parks and of course, the River Walk.
I’ve yet to visit Monterey myself, but I hear that the Monterey Bay Aquarium, is quite nice. Be sure to watch as Colleen guides you through this fantastic destination for families.
I live less than 90 minutes from Baltimore, so I’ve been to Charm City many, many times. My kids and I are in this episode, so we’re excited to see the parts on Colleen’s visit with us to the National Aquarium.
There’s so much to see and do with kids in LA that Colleen dedicates two episodes to Los Angeles, featuring the California Science Center, Venice Beach and the Getty Museum, among other attractions.
We spent three weeks in Ireland over the summer. We did a home exchange with a family that lives just outside Cork and had a fabulous time. I even put together this post, 10 Things to Know Before You Vacation in Ireland.
Colleen is from Chicago, so it makes sense that she’d dedicate an episode to her hometown. There’s so much to see and do here, like river cruises, museums, and of course, Navy Pier and the Lincoln Park Zoo.
I’m personally excited about this episode because we are thinking about doing a home exchange again next year and Montreal, Canada is our top choice. I’ll definitely be tuning in.
Back when we had just two kids, we went on a cruise to Alaska with my in-laws. Lots of fun, and now that my kids are older (and there are more of them!), I’m looking forward to going on our next cruise.
Years ago I went to Yellowstone National Park. It was completely amazing, and was even rated by Highlights for Children as one of the top-10 summer travel picks. This should be a great episode on Wyoming.
I’ve yet to visit Holland, MI, but it looks like a really fun place to visit with kids. I’m loving the whole Dutch Experience within this small town. Lots of fun.
The PBS series, Family Travel with Colleen Kelly, is airing in a number of markets right now, including Orlando, Chicago, Austin and Indianapolis, so check your local PBS listings. The show is expected to be airing in 75 to 80 percent of the country in the next few months. Very exciting.
