I already have my big family adventure planned for the year, but how about you? If you’re still pondering what to do with the kids, TravelChannel.com has compiled a list of the 10 Best Family Adventures for 2015. They worked with a panel of experts, including Keryn Means of Walking on Travels and Nancy Schretter of Family Travel Network, so these are some truly fabulous suggestions.
Montana: Explore Glacier National Park
I spent five days at Glacier National Park last summer and can’t agree more with this suggestion. Take a nature hike, enjoy a horseback trail ride, go rafting or enjoy a sightseeing Red Bus Tour. Be sure to stop by Discovery Cabin in Apgar Village to check out a family activity backpack.
Chicago: Have an Urban Family Adventure
Chicago is such a fantastic city. I even included a fun-filled day at Chicago’s Navy Pier in my wildly popular One Thing You MUST Do with Kids in Every U.S. State post as the one thing you must do in Illinois. While in Chicago, the Field Museum and Shedd Aquarium are musts with kids.
Peru: Make the Hike to Machu Picchu
Machu Picchu is on my bucket list, for sure. I don’t exactly know when it’s happening, but it’s definitely happening, probably in a few years once my five-year-old son is just a wee bit older. Go whitewater rafting, ride horses through local towns and hike along the Inca Trail.
St. Lucia: Try a Family Diving Vacation
Escape the cold weather and head to St. Lucia for a family diving vacation at Kids Sea Camp. Children as young as four years old can join certified diving instructors on sea dives. While on land, explore a sugar plantation or ride a mountain bike through the rainforest.
Alaska: Explore the Inside Passage
Hop aboard a cruise ship and sail along Alaska’s Inside Passage. Enjoy magnificent views and keep your eyes open for wildlife, like whales and bears. To make the most of your adventure, rent an RV in Anchorage and road trip, making stops all along Kenai Peninsula’s Seward Highway.
So, that’s five adventures, but there are five more family adventures worth considering in the post on TravelChannel.com, including trips to Argentina, Tokyo and Peru. WOW. So much inspiration.
