Exploring Gulf County with Kids (+ $50 Giveaway)

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Visit Gulf County. All opinions are 100% mine.

We travel to Florida as a family at least once a year since my in-laws are snowbirds and spend the winter in Palm Beach County. We also just spent a week in Orlando in November to visit LEGOLAND and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando. However, one part of the state I’ve not yet visited, but am eager to explore, is Gulf County, which is on the panhandle of Florida, near Panama City.

I recently had the chance to check out the Gulf County Adventure Guide and love all that you can do outdoors as a family, like hiking at St. Joseph Peninsula State Park and renting a charter boat to go “snuba” diving. Here are four of my favorite must-do adventures in Gulf County.

1. Kayaking in St. Joe Bay. Go on a guided eco-tour in a kayak with Happy Ours Kayak & Bike Outpost. Keep your eyes open for turtles as they come up for air. Some friendly turtles may even swim right up to your kayak to say hello.

2. Hiking Along the Bayview Nature Trail. Head over to St. Joseph Peninsula State Park, known as America’s Best State Park, for hiking or even overnight camping on the beach. Keep your eyes open for wildlife, like deer and wading birds. You should also find some great shells.

3. Splashing at Different Beaches Every Day. You may quickly find your favorite beach, but it’s a must to explore the various beaches in Gulf County. Go fishing at Indian Pass, try horseback riding on the beach at Cape Sand Blas or play with dogs on one of the many pet-friendly beaches.

4. Going on an Eco-Tour with Captain Charlene. Book an eco-tour with About Fun Charters. Take in the sunset at St. Joe Bay to see plenty of birds, fish, sea life, even one of the resident dolphins. About Fun Charters also offers fishing charters and scalloping trips.

If you like outdoor adventures, Gulf County is the place to explore as a family. Be sure to check out their Pinterest boards for plenty of inspiration and ideas before you go.

If you’re ready to embark on your own adventures, whether in Gulf County or your own hometown, I hope you’ll enter to win a $50 gift card courtesy of Visit Gulf County. Just click on the image below to enter. Ten lucky winners will be chosen each week. Hurry, the giveaway ends on Monday (4/13).
