About

Gifford-Walmart-0902I’m Erin Gifford, a Washington, DC-based family travel expert who founded Kidventurous in April 2011 to help moms and dads plan family travel adventures that are both educational and fun. A mother of four children (ages 5, 7, 9 & 11), I’m an early-riser (4:45 am on weekdays), a runner (gearing up for my third marathon) and a UVA grad (go Hoos!).

I currently serve on Merck’s Active Family Project Play Council, which seeks to empower moms to enjoy healthy and active lifestyles with their families. Previously, I was recognized as one of five Smart Family Travel experts for Scholastic Parent & Child magazine. In this capacity, I dispensed tips and advice to families interested in memorable vacation experiences.

Kidventurous has received multiple accolades. In 2011, Kidventurous was selected by the editors of Parents magazine as the Best Family Travel Blog. Kidventurous was also chosen as the Best Family Travel Blog by Luxury Travel Mavens and was named a Finalist, Top Family Travel Sites in the Red Tricycle Totally Awesome Awards in late-2012.

My travel writing can be found on TravelChannel.com, NBCNews.com Travel, Fodors.com, National Geographic’s Intelligent Travel, SmarterTravel.com, Family Vacation Critic, Travel MamasA Luxury Travel BlogPoshbrood, Trekaroo, The Vacation GalsMiniTime and more. I also share family travel advice in radio and television interviews.

In addition, I serve as a public relations and social media strategist, working with brands to further their reach online and on leading social media channels. I’ve worked with travel brands and organizations, such as Experience Kissimmee, Preferred Hotel Group, HomeAway, Pennsylvania Ski Areas Association, Club Med, Kingsmill Resort, Syracuse Convention & Visitor Bureau and Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort.

I would love to hear from you about how I can help with your next marketing campaign. Please send an email and let’s talk about how we can work together. Or, feel free to take a look at the media kit for Kidventurous and let’s get started.
