5 New Reasons to Book a Family Cruise

carnival freedomThere’s been a lot of cruise news in the last couple of weeks and it’s very good for families. From LEGO playrooms and new ports of call to bumper cars and trapeze lessons, there are a lot more reasons to take your family on a cruise. Take a look at what’s new and notable:

Cupcakes & Constellations
Princess Cruises has partnered with Discovery Consumer Products to launch Discovery at Sea, a program for both kids and adults that features Discovery Channel-themed activities. Look for Baking at Sea with TLC to test your skills baking and decorating cakes. Or, learn about the stars on the top decks with Discovery Under the Stars. Kids can even pan for gold on a tour inspired by Discovery’s Gold Rush.

Everything is Awesome
If your kids dig playing with LEGO bricks, they will love the LEGO-themed playrooms, including play areas for Classic and Duplo bricks that MSC Cruises is rolling out on select ships. Children will be able to participate in a LEGO Experience Day and receive an official LEGO Junior Master Builder diploma upon completion. Kids can even have take selfies with Sailor Walkabout, the new LEGO Sailor Mascot.

Bumper Cars & a Flying Trapeze
Royal Caribbean’s much-anticipated Quantum of the Seas was unveiled last Friday in Southampton, England before heading to the Caribbean for the winter. So, what’s so great about this ship? Well, for starters, it’s the first cruise ship with bumper cars. It also has a multi-use space called the SeaPlex, which boasts trapeze lessons and roller skating. For moms and dads, look for robot bartenders.

New Islands to Explore
In search of a new island to visit on a Caribbean cruise? Disney Cruise Lines announced last week that they’ve added Tortola (capital of the British Virgin Islands) and Martinique to Caribbean itineraries for sails in 2016. In Tortola, kids will love exploring ruins and Sage Mountain National Park. In Martinique, look for French and Creole influences, as well as rainforests, waterfalls and volcanoes.

Sharing Selfies Just Got Easier
Whether you want to share photos on Instagram or let friends on Facebook know how much fun you’re having on board a Carnival cruise ship, you’ll be able to do so with a lot more ease now that Carnival has announced they’re upping the wi-fi connectivity by 10x. Look for the new WiFi@Sea high-speed network to launch on Caribbean-bound ships before the end of the year.
