It’s good to dream big, right? Lesley of Bucket List Publications has been putting together annual bucket lists for the last three years (take a look at 2012, 2013 and 2014). Her efforts inspired me to put together a list of my own. There’s so much that I want to do and see, both on my own and as a family, that I felt like if I didn’t start putting bucket list items on paper, they might never happen.
While Lesley has been creating 50-item bucket lists the last couple of years, I wanted to start with just 25 (her first list in 2012 had 25 items too). I just don’t know what’s truly doable for me, and honestly, I still probably won’t be able to cross off every item this year. The list I settled on includes a mix of both local want-to-do’s, like climbing to the top of the Washington Monument, and big ticket bucket list wishes that take a lot more planning, like seeing the fjords in Norway.
Throughout the year I’ll put up posts sharing updates as I seek to cross off all 25 items. So, without further ado, here’s my 2015 bucket list (yikes, it’s scary to see them all written down in one place):
- Swim with whale sharks.
- Visit the Christmas Markets in Germany.
- Go to the top of the Washington Monument.
- Try out glamping.
- See the tulips in the Netherlands.
- Go rafting in the Grand Canyon.
- See the fjords in Norway.
- Rescue sea turtles.
Visit a wild west town. See a rodeo.
- Go snorkeling in the Caribbean.
- Ride on a steamboat.
- Take a helicopter tour.
Go on a cross-country road trip with the kids.
- Do the National Treasure Tour at Mount Vernon.
- Try stand-up paddleboarding.
- Explore a new city on a by-bike tour.
- Stay at a Club Med.
- Visit Cape May, NJ.
Take the kids to Yellowstone.
- Do a night sky stargazing program.
- See the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree.
- Go on a one-on-one adventure with each of my four kids.
Visit a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- Go to Belize.
Of course, there are many other places I’d like to do and things I’d like to do. I’d love to stay in an ice hotel and spend time in a dude ranch, but I’ll save those for 2016.
Do we share any of the same bucket list destinations or activities? Let me know what’s on your bucket list that you hope to cross of this year (as well as what you’ve already crossed off from the list above). I’m excited to hear from you! 🙂
