Review & Giveaway: Around the World with Elwood & Ofie (+ $25 Amazon Gift Card)

around the world with elwood and ofie** This giveaway is now closed. Thanks to everyone who entered!

I love apps that are not only fun for kids but also teach them a bit about the world around them. So, I was excited to check out Around the World with Elwood and Ofie, an interactive children’s book about a pair of earthworm siblings that work for a travel magazine called the National Crawler. Elwood is a well-respected photographer, while Ofie writes a column about food called “Ofie’s Edibles.”

In this first book, Elwood and Ofie travel to Paris by way of a paper cup and a balloon. Along the way, the duo meet up with an ant named Fernand who shows them around Paris as they visit street musicians, eat crepes and take in works of art at the Louvre. And, of course, they make a stop at the Eiffel Tower.

elwood ofieHaving just returned from Paris in late-July with my older daughters (ages 8 & 10), I felt like this interactive book was perfect to share with my younger children (ages 4 & 6) who did not get to go to Paris with us. As we flipped through this interactive book on our iPad, I talked to my little ones about the different foods we ate and places we went in Paris. They loved getting to know Paris in this way.

My younger kids loved advancing the colorful pages on the iPad and also engaging with some of the activities throughout the book. They had fun creating their own crepes by dragging and dropping different fruits. They also liked creating their own bustling Parisian boulevard by moving people onto the scene, including people drinking coffee in a sidewalk café or eating ice cream and watching the people go by.

If you’re looking for a fun way to introduce your small children to new countries and cultures, definitely look into the new Around the World with Elwood and Ofie series. We can’t wait until the next book in the series comes out so the kids can learn even more about the world around them.

Around the World with Elwood and Ofie is available for the iPad. It’s also available for Android by way of Google Play and Amazon.
